The full moon sets behind the old State Capitol building (now the Placer County Courthouse) in Old Town Auburn.
I did this the old-fashioned way... seeing where the moon was, predicting where it was going, and changing my position several times to try to be in the right place at the right time.
Now there's an application that takes a lot of the guesswork out of lining up the sun and moon with natural or man-made objects to take stunning photos. The free application The Photographer's Ephemeris uses Google Earth to allow you to plan a shooting location for a fairly exact alignment with desirable natural or man-made landmarks.
Google the program name Photographer's Ephemeris and view the tutorial videos for examples of the capabilities this amazing new tool!
I regularly add tips like this to my blog MyPhotoGuides, and you can subscribe to updates via the NetworkedBlogs tool there (you can also get to my Flickr portfolio and Twitter feed from there). |
